Re-brand, Release, Repair: Web & Malware Security Company's Steps to Improve Safety

Canadian company brings more to the table than standard web security scanning, by developing custom services and unique applications

Ontario, Canada - March 5th, 2010: Web security scanning and monitoring services have been around for years, but this month the industry experienced change as early market entrant Site Security Monitor (SSM) re-branded in a unique way that tackles the website malware problem from a number of angles.

Formerly known as 54f3.com (L33t computer language for 'Safe'), Site Security Monitor has always used Enterprise Grade web security scanning software to provide high web security. The service scans each website for holes in coding and provides direction on how to repair it - so that hackers cannot gain entry, steal visitor details and ruin a company's reputation. Considering a website will usually have at least 40 of these vulnerabilities this online and instantly available solution is gaining in popularity.

"Since we don't require a software installation, we are able to start scanning a site in seconds and have a report ready quickly. In February, we scanned over 2,000 new sites as part of our free malware scan program", says SSM managing director Jason Remillard.

In the past SSM has served a number of websites, including a popular dating site which had not 40, but 1400 vulnerabilities in its security system. "Website traffic is affected the instant Google notices that you are hosting malware", continues Mr. Remillard, "the ugly red warning screen is thrown up and you're instantly de-indexed. It can be weeks before your users stop getting notified too, so it's important to prevent these things happening in the first place with web security scanning and monitoring such as ours."

While the company's web security scanning software remains similar to the one used to protect websites in the year previously, its availability has changed considerably. This has happened namely through different angles such as WordPress applications and new pricing. Remillard concludes, "Our customers were involved for the beginning - helping pick the name, approving our new logos and security seal graphics - its been alot of fun and we are thankful to our clients for their assistance!"
